How secure is the eSIM compared to the physical SIM card?

The eSIM offers a similar level of security as physical SIM cards. The eSIM data is encrypted and can only be read by authorized mobile service providers. Since no physical card can be removed or exchanged, the eSIM is even better protected against physical tampering.

This has an advantage for the security of your smartphone. Since the eSIM cannot be removed, it is more difficult to disconnect the smartphone from the mobile network. This means that you can locate your stolen or lost smartphone for longer and (depending on the manufacturer) deactivate it remotely for longer or report it as stolen.
